Itinerary:

Jump into this 6-day adventure from Puno to the Bolivian border with Chile, Hito Cajon, along the most beautiful Bolivian landscapes.

Day 1: Welcome to Bolivia!

Today you will be transferred by a private bus from Puno with a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca along the route to Copacabana (approximately 3 hour and a half), a pleasant town in the shores of Lake. You will visit the famous Virgen Morena and its church. Then, you will take the boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour) land in Huacani port. There, you will enjoy a typical lunch “Aptapi”. This trip continues by boat reachieng the ruins of Pilkokaina Inca temple. Finally, you will hike to La Estancia with a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca (1 hour and a half approximately).

Day 2: Island of the Moon*

Today you will have an excellent oportunity to watch one of the most beautiful sunrises! Start with a hike down through Yumani visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth, then have a trip towards north by boat (1 hour) to visit Chincana ruins and the Sacred Rock; you will continue by boat to the Island of the Moon (1 hour) and the Inca ruins of Iñak Uyu temple to finally reach Copacabana (1 hour and a half). A private transportation will take you to La Paz (3 hour and a half) with the most beautiful views of the Andes Royal Range and crossing Tiquina strait by motorized wooden boat. Cable car (Teleférico) from El Alto city to La Paz. This ride is a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz and a must for everyone!

Day 3: La Paz City Tour

Today you will visit the street markets, rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artifacts. Then, the Murillo square, the San Francisco Church, Gold Museum and the outdoor replica of the Tiwanaku temple. Afterwards, you will head towards the modern part of town, dropping down a lot in elevation to finally visit the Valley of the Moon to enjoy all of its natural geological formations.

Day 4: Uyuni Salt Flats

A morning transfer to the airport to take your flight from La Paz to Uyuni, transfer to your hotel nearby in Colchani in the shores of the Uyuni salt flats. There, you will visit the village and its surroundings to see how the locals produce the salt. Entering this natural wonder with over 10.000 km2 at 3.692 m.a.s.l. of salt is something really special. You will trip through the salt flats crossing to Isla Incahuasi (2 hours), a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Then, you will head towards north to see Pucara de Ayque at the foothills of the Tunupa volcano. Afterwards, you will trip back to Colchani (2 hours). There, you will enjoy a nice sunset and overnight in a unique salt hotel.

Day 5: Alota

Today you will head towards south, crossing the town of Uyuni, reaching the cemetery of old trains and then, enter the southern highlands crossing the villages of San Cristobal mine, Culpina K and explore the rich and high Andean valley of Alota (approximately 4 hours). Finally, you will head towards south among great stone formations done by the erosion, to finally reach Villamar (1 hour).

Day 6: Reserve Eduardo Abaroa 

Long day! Start with an early morning trip towards the REA (National Reserve Eduardo Abaroa), where you will visit the Laguna Colourada (2 hours), declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 flamingos at 4,278 m. Then, you will head towards the geysers “Sol de Mañana", passing alongside the Challviri lagoon, with its hot spring in the shores of Polques. Then, you will cross through the high desert of Pampas de Dali, where you will have amazing views, to finally reach Laguna Verde (3 hours), in the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. Finally, you will continue to the Bolivian border, Hito Cajon.

* Note: If the visit to La Chincana isn’t possible due to reasons of force majeure, the itinerary will change as follows:                

Day 2: Moon Island

Don't miss the chance to marvel at a beautiful sunrise! Start with a hike down through Yumani visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth. Then, jump into a motorized boat towards the Island of the Moon and visit the ruins of Iñak Uyu Inca temple to finally reach Copacabana (1 hour and a half). A private transportation will take you to La Paz (3 hour and a half) along the most beautiful views of the Andes Royal Range crossing Tiquina strait (the narrowest part in the Lake -30 minutes by motorized wooden boat). The cable car (Teleférico) from El Alto city to La Paz is a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz. This experience is a must for everyone!
