Itinerary:

Jump into this 9-day adventure from Hito Cajon, the Bolivian border with Chile, to Puno, along the most beautiful Bolivian landscapes and highlights.

Day 1: Welcome to Bolivia!

Long day! Start with an early morning pick up in the Bolivian border of Hito Cajon to enter the REA, where you will visit the Laguna Verde (3 hours), in the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. Then, you will cross through the high desert of Pampas de Dali, where you will have amazing views and passing alongside the Challviri lagoon, with its hot spring in the shores of Polques and the geysers “Sol de Mañana". Afterwards, you will visit the Laguna Colourada (2 hours), declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 flamingos at 4,278 m. Finally, you will reach Villamar.

Day 2: Uyuni Salt Flats

A morning trip will take you to the north through spectacular areas of stone formations as a consequence the erosion to Alota (1 hour) and then continue towards the villages of Culpina K and the silver mine San Cristóbal, continue then through the highlands until you reach Colchani to enter Uyuni Salt Flats, a natural wonder with over 10.000 km2 at 3.692 m of salt. Finally, you will cross it heading north to visit Isla Incahuasi, a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks where you can enjoy the sunset.

Day 3: Potosi City Tour

Today you will be transferred from Colchani to Uyuni and then a bus ride towards Potosi.

Visiting Potosí is a journey back in time as you tour its traditional colonial streets and the artisan market; the famous Mint House, the San Francisco church and the front of San Lorenzo church (its facade) that has one of the greatest examples of stone carvings of the baroque-mestizo style.

Day 4: Sucre

Jump into a mesmerizing trip by regular bus starting in the highlands. As you descend you will have a good perspective of why the Spaniards did change their homes from Potosi to the warmer valleys of Sucre.

At afternoon, you will tour the city of Sucre. This charming colonial city lies at the head of the valley at 2700 meters high. This amazing tour includes the visit of Casa de la Libertad, where the Act of Independence of Bolivia was signed in 1825; the Bolivar Park, to see examples of the aristocratic tradition in Sucre with small replicas of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc of Triumph of Paris; the church and museum of La Recoleta, and the museum of Indian Textiles ASUR.

Day 5: Tiwanaku Ruins

Today you will be transferred from hotel to the airport to take a morning flight to La Paz (flight ticket is not included)

On arrival, a transfer will take you to Tiahuanaco ruins. Located 72 km/45 miles from La Paz, throughout which the highlands are passed, and the Aymaran way of life can be seen. Tiwanaku dating back to 400AC - 1100AC, was one of the most important pre-Inca civilizations and considered to be among the most developed at the time. The main constructions visited during this tour are: the Kalasasaya temple and the Gate of the Sun constructed out of stone, the Ponce and Fraile monoliths; the Akapana pyramid and the semi-underground temple. Also, you will visit two local museums to view pottery, stone work and learn about the culture are also included on this trip.

Day 6: La Paz City Tour & Moon Valley

Today you will visit the street markets, rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artifacts. Then, the Murillo square, the San Francisco Church, Gold Museum and the outdoor replica of the Tiwanaku temple. Afterwards, you will head towards the modern part of town, dropping down a lot in elevation to finally visit the Valley of the Moon to enjoy all of its natural geological formations. A cable car (Teleférico) from El Alto city to La Paz is a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz and a must for everyone!

Day 7: Island of the Sun

A private transportation will take you through the highlands to Copacabana (3 hour and a half), a nice town in the shores of Lake Titicaca. There, you will visit the famous Virgen Morena and its church. Afterwards, you will aboard a boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour), land in Huacani port and have a typical lunch “Aptapi”. Finally, you will hike for about 45 min to overnight in Ecolodge La Estancia with a wonderful view of the Titicaca Lake.

Day 8: Puno*

Don't miss the chance to marvel at a beautiful sunrise! Jump into a boat and head towards La Chincana (approximately 1 hour), to see this great Inca ruins. Continue in boat to the Moon Island, and visit the Iñak Uyu ruins. The boat journey continues to Copacabana (1 hours). Once there, a private transportation will take to Puno.

Day 9: Farewell

After breakfast you will be trasnferred to the airport to take your flight.

Day 8: Moon Island

Don't miss the chance to marvel at a beautiful sunrise! Hike down through Yumani, visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth. Then, have a trip to the Island of the Moon (30 minutes) and the Inca ruins of Iñak Uyu temple to finally reach Copacabana (1 hour and a half). Transportation by regular to Puno (3 hours and a half).
