Itinerary:

Explore the Bolivian highlights from the border with Chile, Hito Cajon. Amaze at the beautiful landscapes and the imposing heaven alike Uyuni Salt Flats.

Day 1: Reserve Eduardo Abaroa 

Start with an early morning pick up in the Bolivian border of Hito Cajon to enter the REA, where you will visit the Laguna Verde (3 hours), in the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. The views of the landscapes get better passing alongside the Challviri lagoon, with its hot spring in the shores of Polques and the geysers “Sol de Mañana". Afterwards, you will visit the Laguna Colourada (2 hours), declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 flamingos at 4,278 m. Finally, you will continue to the Villamar village through Polkes.

Day 2: Train Cemetery

Today you will trip through small ranges with great erosion done by the strong wind erosion, passing near Alota, then you will head towards north through the villages of Culpina K, the silver mine of San Cristobal. Then, you will cross the the highlands, and visit the cemetery of old trains before arriving to the town of Uyuni (3 hours). Continue to Colchani, located in the shores of the Uyuni Salt Flats, where the locals produce salt, There, you will enjoy the sunset and overnight in a salt hotel.

Day 3: Uyuni Salt Flats 

A memerazing trip towards south through the Uyuni Salt Flats visiting the Incahuasi Island, a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Afterwards, you will continue heading south through Chuvica (2 hours), crossing the highlands and branches of the Andes Range. Finally, you will arrive at the town of San Juan.

Day 4: Coloured Lagoons 

Today you will have an early departure to San Agustin, and the rich and high valley of Alota. Start crossing the Valley of the Toads, and the minor lagoons to finally descend to the desert of Siloli and the REA reserve. There you will visit the Arbol de Piedra, continuing to Laguna Colourada (4,278 m – 1 hour), the geysers “Sol de Mañana”, the Chalviri lagoon and its natural hot springs of Polques. Afterwards, you will continue through the nice Pampas de Dali, reaching “Laguna Verde” (3 hours), a beautiful green lagoon at the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. Finally, you will cross the border to Chile in Hito Cajon.
