Itinerary:

Explore the largest Salt Flats in the World! Marvel at its beautiful heaven alike landscapes and don't miss the chance to take the most amazing pictures of the imposing Titicaca Lake in this 6-day adventure.

Day 1: Welcome to Bolivia!

A private transfer will take you from Puno with a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca along the route (3 hours) to Copacabana, a pleasant town in the Titicaca's shore. There, you will Visit to its church and the famous "Virgen Morena". Afterwards, take a boat trip crossing the Lake to the Island of the Sun (approximately 1 hour) until Huacani to have an Aptapi (typical lunch in the highlands). The journey continues by boat up until the ruins of Pilkokaina Inca temple. Finally, mesmerising hike to La Estancia with a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca (1 hour and a half approximately).

Overnight in Sun Island

Day 2: Moon Island*

Today you will have an excellent opportunity to watch one of the most beautiful sunrises! Get aboard and head to La Chincana (1 hour), to see this great Inca ruins and amaze at the Sacred Rock, continue by boat (1 hour) to the Moon Island and visit the Iñak Uyu ruins. The boat journey continues to Copacabana (1 hour and a half). Finally, at scheduled time, you will head back to La Paz through the same road (3 hours and a half) with very nice views of the Andes Royal Range and crossing Tiquina strait (the narrowest part in the Lake -30 minutes by motorized wooden boat). A cable car ride it’s a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz.

Day 3: La Paz City Tour & Valley of the Moon

A mesmerising 4-hour city tour through La Paz, elected as one of the 7 wonder cities in the world. Located in a valley at the foothills of the Andes Range, situated at 3,632m / 11942 ft. above sea level. This amazing experience goes through the street markets rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft items. Followed by a tour to the colonial section of the city, you will visit San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Murillo Square, the viewpoint "Mirador de Killi Killi"; and the outdoor replica of Tiwanaku temple. Then, you will descend to the modern side, the southern part of La Paz and visit the Valley of the Moon, where a clay mountain has been impressively shaped by erosion.

Day 4: Uyuni Salt Flats 

You will be transferred to the airport to take flight to Uyuni. On arrival you will be assisted an picked up.

At 10:00 a.m. you will departure from Uyuni to the Great Salt Flats. On the way, you will visit the train cemetery, where the remains of 19th and 20th century steam locomotives are. Then, you will have a brief stop in Colchani, as this is the best place to observe the methods of salt extraction; Continuing the journey, you will head towards Incahuasi Island (known as Fish Island), an oasis with a unique and isolated ecosystem that is populated by giant cactus up to 10 meters high. Afterwards, continue to north to the mummies of Pukara de Ayque fort. Finally, at appropriate time, go back to the Uyuni village.

Overnight in Colchani

Day 5: Tiwanaku

Today you will be transferred to the Uyuni's airport to take flight to La Paz. On arrival you will be assisted an picked up.

You will tour the Tiwanaku ruins, an hour and a half drive from La Paz (72 km/45 miles), throughout which the highlands are passed, and you will be able to see the Aymaran way of life. Tiwanaku, dating back to 400AC - 1100AC, was one of the most important pre-Inca civilizations and considered to be among the most developed at the time. You will visit the Kalasasaya temple and the Gate of the Sun constructed out of stone, the Ponce and Fraile monoliths; the Akapana pyramid and the semi-underground temple. Explore two local museums to view pottery, stone work and learn about the culture.

Day 6: Farewell

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight.

Day 2: Moon Island

Today you will have an excellent opportunity to watch one of the most beautiful sunrises! Start with a hike down through Yumani visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth, then have a trip to the Island of the Moon (30 minutes) and the Inca ruins of Iñak Uyu temple to finally reach Copacabana (1 hour and a half). A private transportation will take you to La Paz (3 hour and a half) with very nice views of the Andes Royal Range crossing Tiquina strait (the narrowest part in the Lake -30 minutes by motorized wooden boat). A cable car ride it’s a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz.
