Itinerary:

Marvel at the beautiful view of the Colorful Lagoon and its wildlife, don't miss the chance of take the most amazing pictures in the heaven alike Uyuni Salt Flats landscape. Explore the picturesque streets of Bolivian cities and learn all the history of Bolivia in this 12-day adventure.

Day 1: Welcome to Bolivia!

Today you will be transferred by a private bus from Puno with a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca along the route to Copacabana (approximately 3 hour and a half), a pleasant town in the shores of Lake. You will visit the famous Virgen Morena and its church. Then, you will take the boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour) land in Huacani port. There, you will enjoy a typical lunch “Aptapi”. This trip continues by boat reachieng the ruins of Pilkokaina Inca temple. Finally, you will hike to La Estancia with a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca (1 hour and a half approximately).

Day 2: Moon Island*

Today you will have an excellent oportunity to watch one of the most beautiful sunrises! Start with a hike down through Yumani visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth, then have a trip towards north by boat (1 hour) to visit Chincana ruins and the Sacred Rock; you will continue by boat to the Island of the Moon (1 hour) and the Inca ruins of Iñak Uyu temple to finally reach Copacabana (1 hour and a half). A private transportation will take you to La Paz (3 hour and a half) with the most beautiful views of the Andes Royal Range and crossing Tiquina strait by motorized wooden boat. Cable car (Teleférico) from El Alto city to La Paz. This ride is a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz and a must for everyone!

Day 3: La Paz City Tour & Valley of the Moon

A four hours city tour through La Paz, elected as one of the 7 wonder cities in the world. It is in a valley at the foothills of the Andes Range, situated at 3,632m / 11942 ft. above sea level. The tour goes through the street markets rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft items, followed by a visit to the colonial section of the city, San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Murillo Square also visit to the viewpoint "Mirador de Killi Killi"; and the outdoor replica of Tiwanaku temple. Then descending to the more modern, southern part of La Paz to reach and visit the Valley of the Moon, where a clay mountain has been impressively shaped by erosion.

Day 4: Sucre City Tour

Today you will be transferred to the La Paz airport to take your flight to Sucre. On arrival you will be picked up and assisted by an english speaking guide.

This charming colonial city lies at the head of the valley at 2700 meters high. Here, you will visit the Casa de la Libertad, where the Act of Independence of Bolivia was signed in 1825; the Bolivar Park, to see examples of the aristocratic tradition of Sucre, with small replicas of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc of Triumph of Paris; the church and museum of La Recoleta, and the museum of Indian Textiles ASUR.

Day 5: Sucre

Today you will have the for leisure and explore the city on your own.

Day 6: Potosi

An early departure from Sucre by private transport, in a 3 hours trip by an amazing road starting in the valleys at 2,759 m.a.s.l. / 9.020 ft. will take you to Pilcomayo river and the Puente Arce (a pending bridge used in past). Afterwards, you will go up to the to the highlands at 4,060 m.a.s.l. /13.320 ft, and reach the famous colonial mining city of Potosi.

On afternoon, you will realize that visiting Potosí is a journey back in time through traditional colonial streets. Here you can find the artisan market; the famous Mint House, the San Francisco church and the front of San Lorenzo church (its facade) that has one of the greatest examples of stone carvings of the baroque-mestizo style.

Day 7: Cerro Rico Mine

This unique adventure allows you to experience an unforgettable trip hundreds of meters underground, to see the living and working conditions of the Bolivian miners (protective clothing and helmets are provided). The silver mine is in the famous Cerro Rico, once the richest of the world.

Then, you will start the tour in Potosí, passing through great branches of the Andes range, with lots of colours, erosion and cactus, near the villages of Chaquilla and Tika Tika, and the famous Pulacayo tin mine. Finally, you will head to the village of Uyuni (3 to 4 hours), which was a big train maintenance and workshop centre back in the day. Now, it has grown a lot due to tourism of Uyuni salt flats and the region.

Day 8: Train Cemetery

Today you will head towards south, visiting first the cemetery of old trains, a place full of history. Then, through the highlands, passing the villages of San Cristobal, Culpina K until the high and rich valley of Alota (approximately 3 hours). You will visit then the areas with great stone formations as product of the erosion. Continue through the high valleys until the village of Villamar (1 hour).

Finally, you will visit the Cave Paintings and Thomas Lakjas Necropolis.

Day 9: Colourful Lagoons 

Long day! Start with an early morning trip towards the REA (National Reserve Eduardo Abaroa), where you will visit the Laguna Colourada (2 hours), declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 flamingos at 4,278 m. Then, you will head towards the geysers “Sol de Mañana", passing alongside the Challviri lagoon, with its hot spring in the shores of Polques. Then, you will cross through the high desert of Pampas de Dali, where you will have amazing views, to finally reach Laguna Verde (3 hours), in the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. Finally, you will trip back to Laguna Colourada and enter the high deserts of Siloli, visiting the Arbol de Piedra to finally reach Ojos de Perdiz (4 hours)

Day 10: Uyuni Salt Flats 

An early morning trip will take you to the north through the minor lagoons: Hedionda and Cañapa. You will continue to east through branches of the range, reaching the valley of Alota (3 hours). Passing through the highlands and the villages of San Agustin and San Juan (2 hours), to enter into Chuvica and to the great Uyuni Salt Flat. There, you will cross to the "Isla Incahuasi" (1 hour), a special habitat of volcanic rocks and giant cactus. Finally, you will continue to east to the village of Colchani (2 hours), where the locals produce salt and you will enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Day 11: Tiwanaku Ruins

Today you will be transferred from Colchani to the Uyuni’s airport to take your flight back to La Paz. On arrival you will be assisted to take a tour to Tiwanaku ruins, located 1 hour and a half from La Paz (72 km/45 miles), throughout which the highlands are passed and the Aymaran way of life can be seen. Tiwanaku dating back to 400AC - 1100AC, was one of the most important pre-Inca civilizations and considered to be among the most developed at the time. The main constructions you will visit are the Kalasasaya Temple and the Gate of the Sun constructed out of stone, the Ponce and Fraile monoliths; the Akapana pyramid and the semi-underground temple. Finally, you will visit two local museums to view pottery, stone work and learn about the culture are also included on this trip.

Day 12: Farewell

After enjoying breakfast you will be picked up and transferred to the airport to take your flight.

Day 2: Moon Island

Today you will have an excellent opportunity to watch one of the most beautiful sunrises! Start with a hike down through Yumani, visiting the Inca stairs Water of the Eternal Youth. Then, have a trip to the Island of the Moon (30 minutes) and the Inca ruins of Iñak Uyu temple to finally reach Copacabana (1 hour and a half). A transportation will take you back to La Paz through the same road (3 hour and a half). A cable car ride it’s a good choice to discover an excellent and beautiful view of La Paz
